Bach & Baroque Style
The Baroque era (c. 1600-1750) was characterized by elaborate ornamentation, basso continuo, and the development of tonal harmony. Johann Sebastian Bach brought the era's contrapuntal techniques to their highest expression in works of breathtaking complexity and beauty.
Other major Baroque composers include Vivaldi, Handel, and Monteverdi, each contributing to the development of opera, concerto, and oratorio.
