Open & Closed Loop Systems
Control systems regulate the behavior of dynamic systems to achieve desired outputs. Open-loop systems apply a fixed control action without checking results, while closed-loop systems continuously measure output and adjust based on the error between actual and desired values.
Feedback is the defining principle of closed-loop control — it enables systems to self-correct against disturbances, parameter variations, and modeling errors that would derail an open-loop approach.
