Pushkin & Golden Age
Alexander Pushkin is considered the founder of modern Russian literature, transforming the literary language and establishing poetry and prose as high art forms in Russian culture. The Golden Age of the 1820s-1840s also produced Lermontov and Gogol.
These writers created the foundation for what would become one of the world's greatest literary traditions, blending European Romanticism with distinctly Russian themes.
